Where the Road Took Me

Reflections
This short poem begins with a familiar feeling—an uncertain search for the place where one belongs. The poet walks a road that twists and turns, where each step feels wrong.
Then, the poet finds someone who provides the sense of belonging they’ve been seeking—who helps them feel at home. This relationship becomes a turning point. The home that the poet is looking for is found in human connection, rather than in a specific place.
But the poem doesn’t end there. It shifts again. After the walking stick is traded for slippers and a robe, the tone changes. Suddenly the poet says, “let’s go explore the globe!” Once they feel rooted, they’re ready to move again—partly out of restlessness, but with a greater sense of joy. It’s a reminder that the road doesn’t end when we expect—it just opens in a new direction.
Affirmation
I’ve walked a road that twists and turns, but I’m grateful that new adventures can still find me—wherever I am on my journey.
