Reflections
This short poem is about positive thinking. It brings to life the concept of reframing—changing your thoughts so you can look at a situation from a different and better perspective.
The opening lines place the speaker at a moment of transition: Happy at last and ready to shine, / my soul had been worn / nearly dead. He next describes his renewed sense of energy and motivation: Now my wings pulse—primed / and ready to spread.
The poem then poses the obvious question: What changed? What enabled to speaker to transition from "nearly dead" to his vibrant new state?
The answer is at once simple and profound: Nothing.
Nothing has shifted in the external world. What has changed is the speaker’s outlook: Just a bright, clear thought / rose like a golden sun / and filled my head. In other words, the speaker changed his interpretation of circumstances or events.
The message is clear: our thoughts largely create our reality. Changing the way we look at life can restore strength, lift our mood, and even help us transform our daily patterns. The wings we need are always there—the right thought can give us the energy to spread them. Positive thoughts have power.
Affirmation
By reframing my thoughts, I find the strength that has always existed within me. A positive thought can help me spread my wings and rise.
