Everyone Needs a Miracle

Reflections
This short poem opens with a bold claim: at some point in life, everyone needs a miracle—something that defies logic and arrives just in time. It might be protection in a crisis, a stroke of unexpected good fortune, or a sense of relief in a difficult moment. Whatever it is, you feel like you are hanging safely in mid-air.
In the middle of the poem, we see the miracle. The sea parts, you pass through, and you feel the soft mud beneath your feet. The image echoes the biblical story of the Red Sea parting—a symbol of deliverance and survival against all odds. You don’t know how or why the miracle happened, but you’re grateful it did. The mystery of the moment is left unanswered, and that’s part of its power.
The final stanza brings the idea closer to everyday life. A flicker of hope or a kind word at just the right time—these, too, can feel miraculous.
Affirmation
I stay open to the possibility that something unexpected and good may find me—things can change in the blink of an eye.
